I have a 1967 pontoon boat 24ft with a 1967 65hp mer. I would like to downsize to a 10hp to 20hp motor. I can’t seem to find a motor on line with remote stearing power trim and eletric start, can you help ??

      James,
You probably want something like the 9.9hp at http://www.smalloutboards.com/j9982ls.htm. It won’t give you the power of a 65hp Mercury but it also won’t suck up nearly as much gas. But it should be enough to putter around a lake while saving a lot in fuel bills! Or you can go to Google and do a search for this string:
“pontoon boat” motor “remote steering” “electric start”
and you should come up with some other options.

      Best of luck! Happy Pontooning.

have older pontoon. the motor is also older had it worked on several times. still not right want some thing go down the lake without something happen.

Tammy, I know what it is like to keep throwing money at an old motor. After a while it just makes sense to get something new, or at least newer. Check with some reputable shops in your area or if you are looking for a newer used motor, make sure the sale is contingent upon you taking it to a local mechanic to check it over. You will pay a bit for that peace of mind but much better than getting another troublesome relic! Best of luck.

The perks of the Honda boat motors is tthat they’re
the quietest andd best on fuel consumption, as compared too Evinrude,
Yamaha, Mercury and Suzuki. BRAID resists icing
and stays limp and manageable even on miniature ice reels in the harshest winter conditions.
